Rural eye health has still not scaled in India
~2.2 billion people suffer from visual impairment globally- 50% of which are entirely preventable. Preventive eye care is highly important but is not seen in rural India due to lack of ophthalmologists and necessary equipment. Additionally, through conventional devices, it takes 3-4 hours to perform all tests and administration of eye-drops by the nurse which does not allow people to perform any tasks all day. This particulary discourages underprivilged people from getting an eye examination done due to the fear of losing their wages for one whole day.
3nethra- a portable, low cost camera for eye screening
3nethra is an intelligent, portable, non-invasive, non-mydriatic, low cost digital fundus camera that helps in pre-screening of five major eye diseases. It is equipped with an efficient workflow to capture high-resolution images of the human eye through a quick focus mechanism that reduces the examination time, costs one sixth of the current cost of collective pre-screening devices and can be operated by a minimally trained operator. Products like 3nethra Neo can also screen preterm babies.
